What a summer it has been!
I hope that you have been enjoying the summer. My summer has been one for the record books. My family and I kicked off the summer by moving 1,000 miles from south Texas to our new home in Missouri. We bought a beautiful 5 acre property in the Ozarks and have been enjoying spending a lot of time outdoors. My husband and I have been dreaming of living on acreage to fill with gardens and livestock for most of our twenty years of marriage, and that dream finally became a reality this summer. I couldn’t help myself and immediately started planting fruit and nut trees and have filled the barnyard with chickens, ducks, and geese. I have been so tempted to add larger livestock, but am practicing self-control and am waiting until we get a little more settled and are certain that all fencing is secure enough to keep everyone safely contained on our property. The kids have been enjoying exploring the property and taking care of the animals.
The move has been quite an adventure, and like any change has presented us with some challenges. Our new home came with a long to do list of projects that we have slowly been chipping away at. We are figuring out the area and getting connected in our new community. Everyone is gradually adjusting as we build new family routines.
An exciting part of our transition to Missouri is that I am now able to focus a lot more of my time and energy on Lark Quilts. I will finally be launching my first online quilting class in just a couple of weeks as well as a membership community I am calling the Learning Lab. I am also working on some exciting new patterns that will be released later this year. I have a notebook full of ideas that I have been sitting on for years and am so excited to have some time to bring them into reality.
